Today’s Text: Zechariah 3:1-10
Key Verse: Zechariah 3:2 (LEB): “But Yahweh said to Satan, “Yahweh rebukes you, O Satan! Yahweh who has chosen Jerusalem rebukes you! Is this not a stick snatched from the fire?””

Because Joshua was an ecclesiastical and an associate civil leading figure of Israel during the days of prophet Haggai, he was frequently mentioned as a type of the people. And he was a pious and patriotic leader; yet, as a type of Christ, he had to undertake for his people in terms of bearing their political responsibilities and spiritual reproach in those days. Joshua is a He tee name similar in tonality and connotation as Jesus; but he was not just Joshua by name. He lived out his calling. You got to put on filth for your people to be a type of Christ. And, it is a thing so filthy to stand before a Babylonian king to obtain permission and encouragement. It was filthy to lead a people called God’s who are making less than expected progress, and whose little efforts were being continually thwarted.
However difficult our pathway may be. Regardless of the humiliation and reproach of the day. No matter the huddle before our dreams, visions and commission—even let Satan himself threaten to undo us and edge us in on every corner—every believer (each one of us) in Christ is a firebrand. You’ve got God at your back. We can survive all satanic accusations and intimidation. We can trample all satanic imaginations and thoughts, and avenge all his disobedience and destruction by the power of God that sides with us. God is indeed with us; in us and by us; to cast off, debase and rebuke him on our behalf. Is the Lord no more upon Mount Zion? What do you imagine of the Lord? So you think Yahweh has chosen you in vain? Would the One who rebuked Satan once not stand up for you and rebuke him again?! We are brands snatched from the fire. And, the devil tries in vain in all his effort and attempts to bring us into disrepute.
Quote for the Day: “Jesus, the anti type of Joshua, the Church’s Most High Priest, takes on our filth and reproach, putting on our foul garments before the accusing darkness and before the throne of mercy, rebukes Satan, takes away our inglorious apparels, and clothes us with glory and grace.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you will take my filthy apparels away and clothe me with Your glorious garment of many colors, and crown me with a headgear of glory — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
