Today’s Scripture Threshing for Friday, May 24, 2019
Today’s Text: Acts 3:17-26
Key Verse: Acts 3:19 (ESV): “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.”
This message came originally to men who possibly crucified Jesus, but it’s as true for us as it was to them. At some point, we all rejected Christ. But we all are called upon to repentance and conversion. This is not an invitation to guilt, but a call to change, and to turn to the Lord.
We all make wrong choices and have some creepy past, but an easy turn can change the story forever. This is without prejudice to religion and devotion; God wants all to turn from sin and unto Him. The word turn is used to help us know that we need more than guilty feelings, apology or confession; but we need true repentance, which is displayed in genuine change of direction and action. if we do, we will be forgiven and God will set the records straight.
Quote for the Day: “Repentance is the turning in total sense of it; a turn in attitude and direction, a termination of our night and an institution of light.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
