Daily Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, March 25, 2025
Today's Text: 2 Timothy 4:1-5
Key Verse: 2 Timothy 4:5 (ESV): "As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."

Apostle Paul and Timothy had a very close relationship. Paul was like a spiritual father to Timothy, and he had entrusted Timothy with the responsibility of leading the church in Ephesus. In this passage, as the spiritual parent, Paul charges Timothy, a son, to preach the word of God, being ready to do so in season and out of season. He reminds Timothy that a time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but will instead accumulate teachers who will tickle their ears. Paul exhorts Timothy to be sober-minded, to endure suffering, and to fulfill his ministry.
All believers are called of God to serve the Kingdom in different ways according to our individual measure of grace. A great example of making a full proof of one's ministry is the life of Stephen, one of the first deacons in the early church. Stephen was a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and he did great wonders and signs among the people. When he was falsely accused and brought before the Jewish council, Stephen did not back down. Instead, he boldly preached the Gospel, making a full proof of his ministry, even in the face of death.
To make a full proof of one's ministry is to demonstrate unwavering commitment, unrelenting passion, and unshakeable conviction in fulfilling one's divine assignment. It involves being faithful follower of Christ who faithfully preaches the word of God, even in the face of scorn, adversity, opposition, or persecution. It requires being willing to endure hardship, suffering, and sacrifice for the sake of the Gospel, while remaining steadfast, immovable, and uncompromising in one's beliefs and values. It is living a life of integrity, authenticity, and transparency, where one's words, actions, and character align with the teachings of Christ, thereby bringing glory and honor to God. We are all called to preach the word of God, even when it is not popular or convenient; as well as during suffering and hardship for the sake of the Gospel.
Action Steps: Ask God to give you the courage and conviction to make a full proof of your ministry. Be faithful to preach the word of God, even when it is not popular or convenient. Be willing to endure suffering and hardship for the sake of the Gospel. Be committed to fulfilling your ministry, whatever that may be.
Quote for the Day: "No makeup in proofing our ministry. Faith is not cosmetic. We simply must demonstrate our commitment to the Gospel, even in the face of adversity." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You today, asking for the courage and conviction to make a full proof of my ministry. Help me to be faithful to preach the word of God, even when it is not popular or convenient. Give me the strength to endure suffering and hardship for the sake of the Gospel. Help me to fulfill my ministry, whatever that may be — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
