Today’s Scripture Threshing for Friday, June 7, 2019
Today’s Text: Romans 8:1-17
Key Verses: Romans 8:14 (ESV): “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”
We can be grateful for so much blessings that are ours in Christ. But among all, apart from the salvation of our souls, no singular joy should fill our hearts like the Holy Spirit’ presence in us. The Holy Spirit is our mark of identification with Christ. He helps us destroy the inimical power of the great inner adversary, called the flesh. He helps us recreate the original (lost) nature of God in us, and reforms a new culture of submission, devotion and dominion altogether.
By being led by the Spirit of God, our text refers to the new inner influence which drives and/or urges us against sinful and carnal impulses. We who were torn apart by various forces of inconsistencies, self-identifying, greed, wickedness, sensuality and all forms of evil are now brought under a new grace, a new wisdom and control to govern us against the maxims, customs and "spirits of the age" which are our former prevalent and controlling forces. These, the apostle sum is the math that we are sons of God.
Quote for the Day: “A good understanding of the Holy Spirit’ Influence in a believer’s life is that he is led to bring out God’s original nature in him. His spiritual emotions are quickened and carnal emotions mortified.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, move the Spirit more boldly in my life. Permit no sin that can grieve or diminish the voice of the Holy Spirit in me. Help me crave your presence more in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
