A Walk Unto Blamelessness

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, August 11, 2024

Today’s Text:  Genesis 17:1-9

Key Verse: Genesis 17:1 (NASB): "Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; Walk before Me, and be blameless."

God always desires a personal relationship or walk with us. When He told Abraham to walk with Him, He is talking about an intimate communion and fellowship with Him. Part of this is trusting and obeying Him. God always wants us to seek His guidance and wisdom and be accountable to Him. That is what He requires of us in order to escape and overcome blame or become blameless before Him. What does it mean to be blameless? It is to live with integrity and moral purity. When a man is blameless before God, he is regarded as faithful and usable by Him. He reflects God's character and values. He avoids sin and compromise.

This text is an invitation to a walk with God: a call to a higher lifestyle that strives to be blameless and experience deeper faith and trust. The benefits of that walk is on us. The devil always seeks to discredit us and blame us in every way. But when we yield to the walk, we get to enjoy increased wisdom and discernment to overcome. Besides, we enjoy great and indescribable joy and peace. A walk with God brings us stronger sense of purpose and direction, which makes us better men and women. Just like as God sought covenant with Abraham, He seeks to establish a lifelong relationship with us too. And this verse sets the tone for that partnership: walk with me. This walk is our call to commitment with, and trust in, God.

God is aware that we live in a fast-paced world, and that it's easy to get distracted from our walk with Him. But He is calling us to pay closer attention to our spiritual life over all our distractions such as: movies, clubbing, fashion, music, social media and/or jobs. God invites us to walk with Him in a path to blamelessness before Him. As you join other believers in worship today, let this thought thrive in you. God wants you to pay attention on your personal relationship with Him. He wants you to seek His guidance in decision-making. He wants you to live with integrity and authenticity. And, He wants you to love Him.

Quote for the Day: "Walking with God is a walk in His wisdom, love, and grace. It brings a blameless life that reflects His character to a world in need of hope." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I want to walk with You closely, to hear Your voice and follow Your leading. I need your help to be blameless, to live with integrity and authenticity. Make my life be a reflection of Your love and character; and help me to cultivate a deeper relationship with You — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
