Today’s Text: 2 Kings 4:11-35
Key Verse: 2 Kings 4:26 (ESV): "Run at once to meet her and say to her, ‘Is all well with you? Is all well with your husband? Is all well with the child?’ ” And she answered, “All is well.”
In the midst of unimaginable loss, a grieving mother uttered three powerful words, "all is well," though her son, her only child, had suddenly died in her arms. This shows her faith in the face of unbearable pain. Each time I personally read this biblical account, I am always struck by this woman's remarkable faith. She didn't deny her emotions or pretend everything was okay. Instead, she acknowledged her pain while simultaneously declaring her trust in God's goodness. She leaves us an unbeatable example that we too can chose to trust in God's sovereignty regardless of what life brings.
At the arrival of the Lord's prophet, Elisha, the woman fell at his feet, pouring out her heart in a moment that may be regarded as a praying time. Despite her anguish, she affirmed, "It is well," a declaration of her faith. By this, she demonstrated faith in God's unwavering presence in her life. We too can. As we face our own trials and tribulations, we're invited to echo this courageous mother's words: "All is well." Not because our circumstances are easy or comfortable, but because our God is faithful and unchanging. In the darkness, He is still good. In life's uncertainty, He is still sovereign. In our pain, He is still present. Therefore, let us learn from this remarkable Shunamite woman's faith who demonstrated trust in God's sovereignty despite her circumstances. Her confession has gone into history as an example of faith that acknowledges God's goodness even in the midst of pain. Let us choose to trust in God's character, even when our world is shaken. We can find the strength to whisper, "all is well," especially knowing that God is always working for our good.
Action Steps: Never deny your emotions: but while acknowledging your pain and struggles, choose to trust God's sovereignty. Seek God's presence, comfort and guidance. Hold onto faith: Remember God's character and promises, even when circumstances seem overwhelming.
Quote for the Day: "Genuine faith can trust in God's sovereignty, even in the midst of pain and uncertainty." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to trust in Your goodness, even in the midst of pain and uncertainty. Give me the courage to declare, "It is well," knowing that You are always with me; even when my world is shaken. Give me the courage to stand strong and steadfast knowing that you are always working for my good — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
