Today’s Scripture Threshing for Saturday, June 8, 2019
Today’s Text: Matthew 11:25-30
Key Verses: Matthew 11:28 (ESV): “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
In weariness and unrest, every man craves for peace and repose. Sometimes, we find some outward calm of quiet; but our heart felt needs are more than these. True rest is never found in cruising calm Caribbean or solitary harbors; it is not in the ascetic walls of most solemn monasteries—no, none of these could calm the storms within. To be labor and be heavy laden is not necessarily in physical endeavors: a naturally restful person may live under heaviest possible soul labor and spiritual burden. But there is no kind of burden and labor (spiritual, physical, medical, financial, marital, social or what be so strange and unnameable) that Christ that you’re in that Christ cannot give you rest if you yields His invitation.
Quote for the Day: “It is high time we all quit efforts and turn to Christ, especially knowing that it is the prerogative of Him who made the soul to give it rest.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your glorious plan for me to enjoy my everyday life. Thank you for dying for me that I may have life and have it abundantly. Help me walk in your rest all days of my life, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
