Today’s Scripture Threshing for Friday, June 14, 2019
Today’s Text: Isaiah 49:13-18
Key Verses: Isaiah 49:13 (ESV): “Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted.”
Today’s text is one of the best description of God’s plan on the return journey of His exiled people. He compares it to that of a well-tended flock. Whereas majority of the people saw desolation and destitution, few with spiritual insight caught a sight of God's beauty and majesty in the grace that has been given, and promised to, God's people that even the stars and the mountains are called to praise.
Like unto Israel, God comforts His people, undeserving as they are. He has mercy on us in our afflictions even though we often bring bring them on ourselves. Therefore, rather than seeing ourselves as wretched people, deserving nothing, we are invited unto a solemn praise of Him who comforts us. He spreads His wounded, willing and comforting alms to us. If inanimate creatures are called upon, and respond graciously in worship of God’s majesty; how much more should we who have received such great mercy respond?!
Quote for the Day: “The poetic beauty with which prophecies come to us is a revelation of how beautiful the souls that connect God are. When God wants to replace beauty for ashes, He invites men to worship.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to see light even when the days are dark: so that I may praise your name and and worship your majesty. In Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
