Today’s Scripture Threshing for Saturday, March 16, 2019
Today’s Text: Isaiah 41:8-16
Key Verse: Isaiah 41:14 (KJV): “Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”
How often do we feel so weak and little. God’ cares is even all the more true and close by. The Hebrews, except in their days of weakness and trouble, normally attributed the masculine gender to themselves or their land. But here, they are addressed in the feminine gender, and not only so, but as a weak and suffering woman. What an irony it is for the prophet to say “ye men of Israel” and yet attribute feminine noun “worn” and feminine pronoun “thee” to them. There is an intentional revelation of how weak the men felt in the face of what made them fear.
While it has been proven that women are not necessarily weaker in terms of strength and capability, those were they days when they were pushed back and perceived as such. Thus, men who lost their esteem were either perceived as women or charged to play the men. However, regardless of the fact of our weakness, or the lies of the enemy, redemption is promised here for all of God's people. O warm a Jacob is not an affirmation of who they are, but a description of how their fear made them feel. Right now, we may feel like worms by nature, slaves to sin and to Satan; but that’s not the way God made us. So, God steps in as our redeemer. He has offered to help us. The redeemer has no better duty that to return men to where they fell.
Yes, what it costs Him is nothing less than the life of His Son, yet God said “fear not ...I will help thee.” O yes, indeed, He has helped us. We have been redeemed by the precious blood of His Son. So, we’re not allowed to feel anymore little. You’re the redeemed of the Lord. Cast your fear. Don’t let that thought thrive that you are a maggot. The fear that makes you feel less than who you are is contending your redemption. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so." That’s what the psalmist said (Psalm 107:2). In other words, since you’re God's redeemed, that’s what you should declare, and never the contrary. You may feel down, but you’re not forsaken; cast down but not destroyed. These are the days for the weak to step out of all shades and shadows of fear, and confess that “I am strong! (Joel 3:10)
Quote for the Day: “No anointing is deployed to raise anyone who berates himself. If you think you’re a grasshopper, whatever you see as Anaks will not hesitate to trample you.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear LORD, thank you for redeeming me. I am stepping forward to take my place. I am your redeemed, no more shall the devil hold me bound. In Jesus name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayer,
