Ask, Seek, and Knock

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Friday, July 5, 2019

Our Text: Matthew 7:7-11

Key Verse: Matthew 7:8 (ESV): “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

Our Lord’s exhortation in today’s meditation is very simple. He wants His children/followers to appreciate the blessing of obtaining from God all life’s good things which they should ask and seek aright. This illustrates both our free access as well as divine goodness towards us.

I’m such an imperfect father, but could never be so unnatural as to deny necessary supplies to my hungry child; or instead of his or her need, give him what would be useless, starve, hurt or poison him/her. If and when we truly understand this, we would all be free from any erroneous understanding of prayer, which reduces it to a mere lethargic experience. We would awaken in any condition no matter how desperate, and simply ask whatever we need from God, who promised that everyone who asks will receives!

Quote for the Day: “God gave, He is giving, and He will give: No one comes before His throne of grace disappointed—linger there if He says wait; but no matter how long or much, every one that asks receives.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Word, which always assures us that our prayers never falls to the ground. Please, give me confidence and renewed hope in your presence—in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
