So far, we have learned how Elijah was a man of passion for the Lord, and a man of passion for prayer. We should not then be surprised as to why he experienced so much miraculous things in his life and ministry. We now know why, by his word, God sealed heavens from sending rain on earth; why fire came from heaven on his behalf to consume his foes; why he enjoyed incredible supplies through ravens; why he defeated all 400 prophets of Baal; and why God heard his prayer and sent rain upon the drought–ravaged earth.
By these we may all learn that the secret of exploit for God is not effort. Of course, there are things we must do; but running the race which is set before us only calls for grace. Today's text hits the nail at its very tail: “the hands of the Lord was upon Elijah. Whereas, Ahab had gone up, prepared his chariot and ran ahead while Elijah was still waiting for time and praying; yet the prophet was able to outrun Ahab’s chariot. And our text is clear on why that us possible. It is because the hand of the Lord was upon him.
People would rather trust horses and run with chariots. Chariots are a symbol economic and political power. They do not only aid swift movement and growth, they aid warfare, enhance victory and boosts governance. They represent strength and valor. But in the mind of God, in divine economy, what a man needs to outwit his enemy, accomplish great results, and encounter dominating resources is never when he lives the "chariot lifestyle" of today's post modern world. Rather, what it takes is having the hand of God upon us.
Quote for the Day: “It is the “g” factor that separates believers from those who run as with beating the air. Without God it an graceless race. God makes the difference between grace and race.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I declare my relentless faith in you toda, and ask that you energize me with your divine anointing to do exploit, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
