Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, March 27, 2020
Today’s Text: Proverbs 1:24-33
Key Verse: Proverbs 1:32 (NIV): ”For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them.”
Ours is a generation that has received so much blessings and prosperity from the Lord; but at the same time, is allowing those blessings to be our occasion for waywardness and stumbling. We let our prosperity foster so much pride, which as we know, comes before a fall. Rather than give God praise, we promote sensual passions, and worldliness, forgetting that the man who loses himself in the cares, engagements, and excitements of the world is "dead while he lives."
The conclusion of the matter is this: our waywardness is killing us, and our complacency has not only made a fool of us and destroying us. But it’s never too late. God said: “if my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Quote for the Day: "Our prosperity makes us flatter ourselves against God, and flattens us before Him.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, You came that we may have life and have it abundantly. Forgive our sins and help us experience the complete and purposeful life in You. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
