Today's Text: Philippians 1:3-11

Key Verse: Philippians 1:6 (ESV): "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ."

As we gradually (or for some, drastically) approach the end of the year 2024, it's essential to reflect on God's faithfulness in our lives. No doubt, each of us in different dozes and levels have experienced ups and downs, triumphs and setbacks, but through it all, God has remained faithful. And so, it is that time to take time to journal or meditate on the ways God has worked in your personal life this outgoing year. It is important to celebrate the victories, no matter how small they may seem. Acknowledge the challenges, but also recognize how God has sustained you through them.

In this passage, the Apostle Paul expresses his confidence in God's faithfulness to complete the good work He started in the lives of the Philippian believers. Experiences have taught him that God has no failed projects. His choice of the words "being confident" was deliberate to convey a sense of assurance and trust in God's sovereignty. And by the word "perform," he implies that God will bring to completion what He initiated. In like manner, as we too approach the end of the year with thecsame spirit of faith and confidence. Imagine a master builder who begins constructing a magnificent edifice; who lays the foundation; erects the walls, and installs the roof; but, who, just as the building is taking shape, disappears, leaving the project unfinished. No man does that. But, sure, they may; but that definitely is not how God works. When He starts a good work in us, He sees it through to completion.

Consider the story of Joseph in the Bible. God gave Joseph a dream of greatness, but he faced numerous setbacks, including slavery and imprisonment. Yet, God remained faithful, and Joseph eventually rose to become a powerful leader in Egypt. Despite the twists and turns, God completed the good work He started in Joseph's life. This year shall not end leaving you stranded and trapped in empty expectations. It shall end on notes of victory and joy. For I, too, am sure that the One who began all the good works in your life is faithful and true. He will also bring them all to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. The day of Jesus Christ is the day of fulfillment of promise.

Action Point: Take a few minutes to write down three things you're grateful for in the past year and three things you're looking forward to in the coming year. Share your reflections with a friend or family member, and ask them to hold you accountable for your goals.

Quote for the Day: "God doesn't start what He won't finish; trust Him to complete the good work He began in you." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, as I reflect on the past year, I'm reminded of Your unwavering faithfulness. Thank You for the blessings, the lessons, and the growth. Help me to trust in Your continued work in my life, knowing that You will complete what You've started — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
