Today’s Text: Job 8:1-13
Key Verse: Job 8:7 (KJV): ”Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.”
Things don’t always go the way we want them. We sometimes go through extraordinary things that we can’t really explain. At other times, even though they are sudden life changes from natural disasters we can explain; yet nobody has any understanding why they happen.
Affliction, sometimes, are consequences of our choices and decisions; but yet we don’t have patience for them. At other times, we go through trials of faith. The graces we’ve received are brought under divine scrutiny to test how qualified or faithful we are.
Regardless of what the issues are; even when we feel brought so low and empty. Today’s text reminds us that there’s hope in any situation. Job was brought to a begin-again smallness.
Like us, he was not prepared for the unfortunate experience. But in spite of the pain, despite the shock, Bildad, one of his three troubled friends, saw the audacity of hope in Job. He saw his active faith; and was spurred to a new hope. Though he was an unbelieving friend, he could see beyond Job’s present smallness.
How exemplary are we when the days of small things loom?! Do we exemplify enough trust in Jesus to reveal Him to our lost friends? Job’s faith was so true that his friends started to see beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary. They saw how he should yet see a good end of his present troubles. They started perceiving that his God may be enriching his soul with graces and comforts for better days to come. What about you? How do you behave during the days when your beginning is small. Your complaints or confessions of faith reveals your progress unto perfection. It keeps your world in view that your weak dawning light definitely grows to the super bright noon-day.
How do we grow spiritually; how can we become more mature as Believers; how can we receive more of God’s blessings — if we fail the tests of the days of small things?!
Quote for the Day: “We are tested by little things so that we may prove that we have lager hearts for larger things.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear LORD, help me to be faithful and honest in everything I go through today, even in small, practical situations. Help me to strive for excellence even when no one seems to be looking, in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
