Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, October 21, 2024
Today’s Text: John 2:1-12
Key Verse: John 2:5 (ASV): "His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it."
Yesterday, in church, I was sharing a very deep message on "Who Are You, Lord?!" It was a call to give up all of ourselves and submit to Jesus, the Lord. It is therefore a great blessing, again, this morning, that the Holy Spirit is following up with another message of submission and obedience. It is a cheerful call to all: whoever you are: Master or servant, mentor or protégé, parent or child, leader or follower, minister or hearer, aged or young, male or female — professors, artisans, doctors, miners, artists, poets, scientists — whoever and wherever you are. We all have a singular employment: to yield the Spirit's call and thoroughly, cheerfully, and constantly "do," at all times, and in all places, whatever the Lord wants us to do.
There are things in our lives that prevent us from doing the word and will of the Lord. We love to put men on the chiefest places of our lives' affairs, and/or wait until the wines fail before we realize that we are not our own, and therefore do "whatsoever He says to do. This Scripture is a command for us to conform our opinion to the Master's word. Let His word be our command everyday. Don't wait fir the wine to fail. If yours is already a failing or faiked wine case, you could still turn to Him. This is not about living under bondage of/to some laws; but being free by the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. Remember that tge law began with Moses' turning water into blood (Ex 7:20); but Christ's started out from there, turning water into wine. It is both a reminder and a call to give up all our old ways, embrace the gospel of Christ, and do whatever He says.
Action Steps: Identify areas where you need Jesus' transformative power. Obey God's word, even when unclear about the outcome. Trust Jesus to turn your "water" into "wine." Invite Him into your life's celebrations and challenges.
Quote for the Day: "Only when we stir up our faith to believe the incredible that we are conditioned to see the invisible, and positioned to receive the impossible. God needs our faith, not to boost His abilities to do things; but to pave the way for His intervention." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote).
Prayer: Dear Lord, Jesus, please transform every ugly situation of my life into sweetness. Revealing Your glory in my story. Increase my faith to trust Your invisible hand. Instill the spirit of servant heart in me and grant me courage to obey Your word, even in uncertain moments. Meet me at the points of my needs, Lord, as You did at Cana, and cause Your glory to shine through my life — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
