Today’s Text: John 4:7-15
Key Verse: John 4:14 (ESV): "But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
I recently began to learn deeper truth about water. I am learning how water is essential for human survival, and drinking enough water has numerous benefits for our health, appearance, and overall well-being. It's helps maintain the balance of fluids in our body and supports the functioning of every cell, tissue, and organ. When you maintain proper hydration, it is essential for physical performance and exercise. It helps regulate body temperature, transport nutrients and oxygen to our cells. Water removes waste products. It promotes digestive health, helping to dissolve nutrients and soluble fiber.
The same is true in spiritual reality. In John 4:14, Jesus, speaking to a Samaritan woman at a well, offered her spiritual water, which essentially comes from Him: a spiritual solution to her deepest thirst in life. He promises that whoever drinks from this "water" will never thirst again. Instead, the water will become a perpetual spring, welling up to eternal life within them. This shows God's inclusive love that breaks barriers and offers new hope and strength . This living water is a metaphor for the Holy Spirit (John 7:37-39). By His Spirit, God quenches spiritual thirst and provides eternal life.
This water is promised to all them that receive Jesus' gift of salvation. They will have their spiritual thirst satisfied forever; receive the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit; experience a transformed life, as the Spirit overflows with eternal life, enjoy an intimate relationship with God, and like a never-ending spring of living water. Why not, like the woman, say to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”
Quote for the Day: “"The well of grace is deeper than the well of sin. Drink deeply, for the water of life is freely given." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for the living water, flowing from the depths of your love. May the wellspring of your grace overflow in our hearts. May our spirits be revitalized, our souls be nourished, and our lives be transformed. May your living water flow through us, bringing hope and salvation to a parched and weary world — in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
