Today’s Text: Hebrews 11:4-12
Key Verse: Hebrews 11:8 (NKJV): “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
Walking with God is always marked by personal discipline and dedication. No one walks with Him from a distance; but those who follow God must put their hands in his and let Him walk them through life. The life of Abraham tells quite a lot about how a man of God must separate himself as a show of faith and follow God. Unfortunately, today’s sense of faith in God has been reduced to a mental ideology—one that is colored by how our society looks at things.
Abraham faith became a history changer! He sets example to how though we don’t know where we are being led to go, our love for, and the knowledge of the One who is leading us make all the difference. Christians are called to a life of faith, not of intellect and reason. Our life consists of knowing the One who leads us. This is the way of faith and godly character. Abraham’s life teach us that walking by faith is trusting God in every circumstance, even when we don't understand what is happening or where we’re heading—whether the path ahead of us appears certain or uncertain, safe or dangerous.
The more we follow by faith, the more we pass into a transfigured people, and the ; more the blessing of God wraps us and changes our lives, time and world. Take a look at Abraham: we call him the father of faith; but his was not necessarily a life of faith that mounts up with wings, but that of walking with God and not fainting. It is not a life tried and proven strong enough to stand the test of time—a faith that stands every test and turns the human history around.
Quote for the Day: “The root of faith is the knowledge of a person God who leads His own according to His own will—whether in prosperity or adversity.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, my prayer today is that I may learn how to live my life uncommon in this world. To walk tall in faith so much that I will be kept from the evil ones. Sanctify me and set me aside by Your truth; and fill my heart with a world changing faith — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
