Today’s Scripture Threshing for Monday, April 8 2019
Today’s Text: Numbers 16:1-15
Key Verse: Numbers 16:3 (ESV): “They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far! For all in the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”
Korah, the Kohathite branch of the tribe of Levi, and Dathan together with his brother Abiram from the tribe of Reuben, were among the quarrelsome and seditious persons who led a revolt against Moses.
Today, we have before us a combination of Levite, a clerical tribe, and Reubenite, lay tribe, setting a profound lesson before us to beware before we throw the stone in our hands. These two tribes must have united in discontent during a call to service in chapter 2, when they were required to march on the south side of the tabernacle.
Reason for their complaint and protest is unclear, but it was rooted in their perception that Moses and Aaron claimed a monopoly on holiness and set [themselves] above the Lord's assembly (verse 3). The chief lesson here is we must be weary of becoming or a detractor to God’s anointed ones. If God sets a leader above you, He alone knows why. If you are familiar with what he does, or you even know more; be content with God’s timing and wisdom in sufficing things to be the way they are.
These men dies died in most different way if you look at verses 33, 35 and 49. Do not bring political faction, and ungodly legislation into spiritual matters. Holy things belong to the Spirit, it can not be democratize. Learn to be content with your level of grace, or the limitations of your calling. Paul, the apostle of our Lord cautioned us that even if we are called being a servant or to be one, we should care not for it (1 Corinthians 7:21).
Quote for the Day: “Rebellion does not represent a call for change even in a decayed situation; it is, itself a reflection of corruption of the mind and a demonstration of its decadence.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, please let your Holy Spirit move upon my life in a new way today. Help me to be content for your grace. I reject every evil motivation towards disobedience and rebellion, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayer,
