Familiarity with the ‘Holy’ (Part 9)

Today’s Date: Sunday for April 14, 2019

Today’s Text: Matthew 13:53-58

Key Verse: Matthew 13:57 (ESV): ”And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.”

While carpenters was not a rich man’s profession during the days of Christ, no Jew would ever despise such handicrafts because it was commonplace. This gives a clue that, by this expression, they were not scorning carpentry; but they were showing others how commonplace he was, being nothing but a carpenter.

This is a way of displaying their knowledge of his background, and quering his qualification. They knew He had received no rabbinical training. He was not a disciple of any authorized rabbi of their day. Therefore, he was accused to be a self-conceited, self-asserted opportunist; who is not to be accepted as a rabbi, a teacher, or an authority in law.

Sometimes, when God brings us face to face with the unusual, our sense of usual rationalizes and brings divine pathway into censure and judgement. This makes us to commonize things, people, occurrence and experience. Men placed in our lives may be angels of our glory and destiny if we do not allow the sin and spirit of familiarity to is a serious familiarity sin stop us. Never let the devil jolt you out the purpose and blessing of God. Be always willing to allow God to break through your assumptions—otherwise, you’d find yourself giving up greater wisdom and blessings for familiarity.

Quote for the Day: “Never let what you know rob you of what you don’t. Never get stopped by His appearance or profession; Who Jesus is, and what He has done for you s\should be kept in proper perspectives.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I humble myself and submit my rationality to you. Help me Lord to shun familiarity sin and put all my trust in you. Amen.

With all my Love and Prayer,
