Finding Purpose

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, June 30, 2024

Today’s Text: Jeremiah 1:4-10

Key Verse: Jeremiah 1:5 (ESV): "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations."”

I have had the privilege to travel the world and I've seen vast diversity and cultural differences across the nations and continents. I've seen different faces and tasted different foods, but I've also noticed that concerns of the hearts of men everywhere are the same. Our skin color and languages differ, but our quest of life are the same. The same singular concern weighs on people everywhere — in Africa, Asia, Europe, North and America and Australia— and this same issue is the matter of finding one's purpose in life.

We all wonder why we are here, how we got here, who we’re supposed to be, and what we’re supposed to do. We want to know that our life has meaning and is driven by purpose. We also have something else in common: we are all confused about the questions of purpose. The more we look around, the more confused we seem to be. But we cN be grateful to God who has given us His word from which we find the answe to many of life’s questions.

We were created for a purpose, and that purpose comes from God that says, “I formed you … I knew you … I sanctified you … I ordained you …” for a well established purpose. In Him alone can we find our purpose, and recognize our calling. Outside of Him, we can make more money but we can't find pirposemamd fulfilment. Like Jeremiah, we don't often feel adequate or worthy but that’s the point we begin to find true purpose. Especially when we step out in faith and thrust ourselves to God. He doea not call you to a purpose without giving you the tools you need to accomplish His plan.

Quote for the Day: "God gives us purpose, and equips us for it! So, why feel lost and misdirected when you can seek and follow God’s purpose for your life. We can rise above all doubts and get past our excuses." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you today, seeking your guidance and clarity on your plan and purpose for my life. Guide me on the journey you have ordained for me. Help me to understand that my purpose is not about me, but about serving you and others. O help me, Lord, to discover and fulfill my purpose — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
