Follow God’s Direction

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, April 20, 2023

Today’s Text: Isaiah 55:1-13

Key Verses: Isaiah 55:8 (ESV): “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.”

We all have a way of romancing our stereotypes or status quo. We don’t like changes; and it’s so difficult to succumb to any path, way, plan or style when they are different from what we thought, knew or chose. But today’s text is a charge for change. Our chosen path or cherished option might not be the route God chooses for us. His ways and thoughts truly are higher than ours. God’s children are perfectly okay to chart a course for themselves and set off toward their goals, but they must learn the spiritual discipline of being so fluid that God can bring unexpected change in plan or direction at any time.

Truth be told: it is never easy when sudden changes occur in our life journey. It makes life so difficult and disoriented. But we must remember that though God changes our path, His plans for us never change. He told prophet Malachi that “I am the LORD, I change not” (Malachi 3:8). We serve a God who never changes. He is the same “yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8). Our path and plans may change but our destination must be kept in view. Anytime God confronts us with My thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways; it is an indication that He is working out a change in us. Anytime you hit a detour; there is most likely a reconstruction going on; or they don’t want you to run into an accident. Embrace that change.

Quote for the Day: “Be patient in that delay. It’s not a denial, it’s a detour. You’re not being rejected; you’re being redirected. .” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank You because You can change anything and turn any situation around. Even when we have given up all hope and say there is nothing that can be done, You still can. You can bring needed change; You can do what is necessary. Help me to put my faith in You O Lord — in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
