Today’s Text: Exodus 30:22-33
Key Verses: Exodus 30:23 (ESV) — “Take the finest spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant cane.”
Every Bible believing saint probably has a common ground about, and experience of the Holy Spirit as a person rather than just some impersonal force. The Holy Spirit is a real person; the third person of the Godhead and part of the indivisible mystery of the Trinity. Just like we have relationship with real people; and we have with the Lord; we can experience a robust daily relationship with the Holy Spirit. Yes, the Holy Spirit wants to have relationship with us. He isn’t an odd part of the Trinity. He is simply God. And we must quit identifying Him just differently. God's Word teach us that the Holy Spirit indwells us as Christians. Perhaps, we do not know the Spirit that lives in us? Or maybe, if we really had a clue who the Holy Spirit is, maybe it would change how we address Him, understand Him or relate to Him in our day to day life?!
Today's text referred how the presence of the Holy Spirit was hallowed under the Old Testament. He was symbolized by the anointing oil and must be something made of finest and most precious, fragrant, and holy oil. This makes the Holy Spirit to be the symbol of the presence of God, perfuming the whole place of worship. It is to be applied not only to Aaron and his sons, but to the tabernacle and all its vessels, symbolizing consecration. Today, we need no physical oil; our body is the living jar of oil; and the fragrance of the Holy Spirit of God through the fruit of holiness imparted to us through the righteousness of Christ must perfume the places of our worship and places of humanity wherever we go. Just like Aaron and his sons bore the fragrance of the anointing, and by the rites of consecration; every believer in Christ is a sweet smelling aroma of the Spirit.
Quote for the Day: ”Under the Aaronic anointing, consecration is only pertaining to the office rather than the man; but in Messianic grace, the total man is consecrated for the office.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, help us not to come before You in our own righteousness. On our own, our works are an aroma of death and dung before You. But let the sweat smelling fragrance of Your Holy Spirit smell through us, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
