Today’s Text: Hebrews 11:1-10
Key Verse: Hebrews 11:1 (ESV): "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen."
Imagine you're on a plane, and the pilot announces that the engines have failed and the plane is going to crash. But then, he says, 'Don't worry, I've got a parachute and I'll make sure everyone gets out safely. Nobody in this dreadfulsituation has more than two options: They can panic, doubt the pilot's words, and try to find their own way out of the plane. Or they can trust the pilot, put on the parachute, and jump out of the plane with confidence.
Faith will always choose the option 2. When life's challenges and difficulties come our way, we can choose to trust in God's promises, even when we can't see the way ahead. We can put on the 'parachute' of faith and jump into the unknown, knowing that God will catch us and carry us through. Just like the pilot has the expertise and equipment to save us, God has the power and love to guide us through every trial.
So let's choose to trust Him, and see the amazing things He can do in our lives! The Bible defines faith as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". Faith is trust, assurance and confidence in God, demonstrated by service and obedience to God. It is a gift from God that allows us to please Him. It is essential for salvation, and vital for prayer and communication with God.
Quote for the Day: “Faith is not a leap into the void, but a step into the embrace of a loving God, who catches us in mid-air and carries us to places we never thought possible." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your love and grace. Please help me to trust in you and your plans, even when the road ahead is uncertain. Give me the courage to pray boldly, the patience to wait on your timing, and the faith to believe that you are always working for my good. Let my heart be filled with your peace and my mind be renewed with your truth. Use me to be a light in the darkness and a witness to your great love — in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
