Give Me this Mountain

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, May 31, 2024

Today’s Text: Joshua 14:6-12

Key Verse: Joshua 14:12 (KJV): "Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said."

The scripture before us today is the story of an apparent loser in every human evaluation: Caleb, 85 years old wanderer in the wilderness. If you like call him homeless; but definitely, what you are about to see is that he was not hopeless. God is bringing his story of how he confronted the giants in Hebron, defeated them and won himself a ladting reputation before us today, so that we know that not a man of us is hopeless is we can rise boldly on the wings of faith!

How did Caleb and all the apparent company of wandering losers turn out to be winners? It was because of the power of God that flowed into their lives as they moved out for Him. Regardless of our present situation, we are never helpless and hopeless. What we must learn is the positivity of Caleb. See how he trusted God for something more than a "get-me-by" kind of Christianity that we, unfortunately live out today. Friends, regardless of where you are and how bitter or brutal it is or looks, you can claim God's promises and tske up mountains.

Remember this: Jesus our Lord once looked like the greatest loser of all time when he stood before Pilate. All His disciples except one ran and hid in shame before the ressurection morning. But then came that morning of joy. God has a way of turning turning the captivity of His people into blessings if walk with Him by faith and follow Him. Friends, how does your situation look right now? Do you feel too old or the promises feel too late? No. Please turn again to the Lord and reclaim those lost blessings.

Quote for the Day: "If you're not asking for mountains, then it means you have settled for molehills." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I come before you today, asking for the faith and courage to possess the mountains in my life. Just as Caleb trusted in your promise and inherited his portion, I ask that you give me the strength to claim my blessings and overcome my challenges. Give me this mountain, Lord, and let me see your faithfulness and power in my life — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
