Our Text: Acts 1:6-11
Key Verses: Romans 8:31 (ESV): “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
We have no shade of doubt that God is for us. Never be deceived by the “If” in the clause “if God be for us." It is not an if of doubt or ambiguity; rather, it a statement of certainty and assurance—that God is, indeed, for all of us who truly believe in Christ Jesus.
The “if“ is a pointer to the rhetorical question “who can be against us?” The apostle never dismisses the reality of prison chains he suffered when Rome was against him. He was definitely aware of the chains and martyrdom of other apostles. He knew how men of Philistine were against Isaac; Babylon was against Shadrach, Meschach, and Abednego for refusing to bow down to the King of Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzer, and their big brother Daniel for praying to the living God. This tells us that none who is for God are so likely or ready to have all system and spirit of the age against them. “Yea all that must live godly in Christ must suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12) But, here, we have a reminder that even if all men and all things be unleashed against us, in anger or jealousy, God is for us.
Quote for the Day: “The world has much to say or throw against us—in words and/orstones; but at the feet of Jesus, no one dares cast the stone at us or accuse us.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we rest assured that all of our days are held in Your hand, crafted into Your perfect plan for us regardless of all opposition. We are confident of your continued outpouring of rich grace, mercies and power through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
