Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, January 30, 2021
Today’s Text: Revelation 13:1-18
Key Verses: Revelation 13:18 (KJV) — “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”
There is an ongoing raging battle between good and evil; the kingdom of darkness has never stopped its horrible assault on the kingdom of God. The Book of Revelation features the revelation of Jesus Christ, which he bestows to John the Beloved during his banishment to the Isle of Patmos. The risen Lord wants His Church to be fully aware that the conflicts between the varied kingdoms of this world are aimed directly and indirectly against the undivided kingdom of God and of His Christ.
The mark 666 is a figurative description of a time and season when all possible avenues of human wisdom, power and intellect would have been satisfied. Men and women would at that time feel they have perfect control of things and people, they would be deceived as having achieved a state of marvellous earthly perfection. Therein is wisdom: when the beast-power has reached its highest development, when culture, civilisation, art, song, science and reason have combined to produce an age so nearly resembling perfection; we need to perceive the end. If you are a man of understanding, apply your heart to wisdom. Seek God and escape the coming terror on the earth.
