Today’s Text: Psalm 2:1-12
Key Verse: Psalm 2:8 (ASV): "Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession."
The Psalm before us today is a royal psalm, written during the reign of King David or his successor, Solomon to describe God's relationship with the king and His plans to give Him nations. The prophetic Psalm reveals that God's resources are limitless, and we are so blessed that He always desires to share them with us. Like in other places in Scriptures, He invites us in this Psalm, to ask anything we would even as vast as all the nations and the earth, and He could give it all as our inheritance. By this, God is telling us that by simply asking, He has enough resources to bless us with much more than territorial expansion but also with spiritual influence and impact across the earth.
God Himself invites us to dare to ask. The phrase "Ask of Me" is an open invitation to approach Him with boldness and confidence. I know that you are thinking that your requests are too lofty. But He wants us to ask, seek, and knock on the doors of His abundance. Whatever you can ask or think is never able to capture all that God can do for you. He promised that He could give you nations as an inheritance. This means you can reach and have diverse people, cultures, and opportunities before you and under your charge; not through wars and conquest but through the Gospel.
God is able to do what He says. He said he'd give us even up to the ends of the earth. This tells us of the vastness of His resources, stretching beyond our limitations and horizons. He wants us to possess and steward these unlimited resources for His glory. So why limit Him by your imagination, abilities, or circumstances. Why not trust in His unlimited wisdom, power, love, and grace. You cannot receive what you do nit request. He said, ask: tap from my unlimited resources. I desire to share them with you. So why not approach Him with boldness, ask for His blessings. And, when He blesses you, which He will, steward those resources wisely to impact the nations and the earth for His glory.
Action Step: Be courageous to ask, i.e., make a request, not a demand. Trust in God's sovereignty and provision. Embrace the universal scope of God's kingdom, praying for His influence to extend to all nations.
Quote for the Day: "We don't always have answers. We are limited in thoughts, speech, expectations and resources; but we have faith in the God whose power and resources are unlimited." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unlimited resources. I key into this promise and ask for Your blessings, wisdom, and grace to steward them effectively. Help me to inherit the nations and possess the ends of the earth for Your glory — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
