God's Unlimited Resources (Part 2)

Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, August 18, 2024

Today’s Text:  Philippians 4:10-20

Key Verse: Philippians 4:19 (ASV): "And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."

Arnold Palmer was one of the greatest American professional golfer during his lifetime. He had a life-changing encounter with a king of Saudi Arabia, who built a huge gulf course in the middle of an Arabian desert and invited all renowned golfers across the world to the grand opening ceremony. During a one-on-one moment with Arnold, the king asked him: "what may I do for you?" This question met the golfer unprepared but he didn't want to embarrass himself before the king. So, he said, "How about a club?!" And the king said, "I'll see to it."

Two weeks passed by. Anold had returned to America and nothing happened. So, he thought, well, the king has a lot to deal with and must have forgotten about that moment. But by the 3rd week, he got a package in the mail with a seal of the king in which he found a title deed to a 1000 acre gulf club in his name. In the game of gulf, the word club applies to both the stick you play with and the entire land you play on. In Arnold's mind and need was a stick to play with but the king interpreted it from the perspective and abundant resources of a king.

This story illustrates God's riches compared to our needs. Just take a moment to reflect on what you would ask if God asked you the same question the king asked Arnold. I bet you'd ask based on your current needs and challenges. But this story is a reminder that God's provision is not limited by our circumstances or resources. His riches in glory are not just for eternity; they are available to us now, in Christ Jesus. Let us to ponder God's glory and riches. Let us visualize His resources pouring into our lives; so abundant enough for us to rest in the assurance of His provision. God interprets our needs and requests according to His own riches of glory, not according to our needs.

Quit crying and sweating over small things after committing them to the hands of your omnipotent, all-powerful God. There is no request too big for God to handle. He is the King of kings. He is the giver of all good gifts. He will meet all our needs in proportion to His boundless infinite resources in Christ Jesus. Yes, He will provide for our needs in a way that reflects His glorious and abundant resources, and based on His character, wealth, and faithfulness, not based on human ability or circumstances. And Jesus is the one and only source and mediator of all blessings.

Action Step: Trust God to meet your needs, regardless of circumstances. Recognize Christ as the source of God's provision in your life. Live with confidence in God's abundant resources and faithfulness.

Quote for the Day: "We don't always have answers. We are limited in thoughts, speech, expectations and resources; but we have faith in the God whose power and resources are unlimited." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I trust in Your abundant riches and glory. Meet my needs according to Your wealth and splendor.- Help me rely on Your provision, not my own abilities.- Thank You for Your faithfulness and love — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
