Today’s Scripture Threshing for Saturday, May 11, 2019
Today’s Text: Luke 18:31-43
Key Verse: Psalm 50:10 (ESV): “Luke 18:37–38 (ESV): They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
There’s no cry for help that ever falls on deaf ears when it comes to God. I know no better story to teach this than that of blind Bartimeus’. He not only understands God, but he knew how to stand up and seize the day. He knew what golden hour of opportunity means; and wasn’t going to miss it.
We are all left with a great example, today, by this blind beggar. Ours may not be a physical infirmity, but in a way or many, we are spiritually blind, and helpless. Some are under spiritual privations, living under the dominion of sin. And like Bartimeus, should we face the golden opportunity of our life and not cry out loud?! Should we not jump out in eagerness and hasten to Jesus?! Bartimeus seized the hour of opportunity, leaving his garment behind (Mark 10:50}. We too must cast off any form of religion, custom, friendship and habits that hold us back from the Savior. Don’t miss your golden hour of opportunity.
Quote for the Day: “Except our cry becomes a prayer and our prayer becomes a cry to God for help, great spiritual opportunities may be slipping by.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, it is only in You that all of the mercies consist and are extended to us. I look to You alone with confidence that You’re faithful to Your promise that You will by no mean cast me away, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayer,
