Today’s Text: Hebrews 4:l4-16
Key Verse: Hebrews 4:16 (ESV): "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
The message of this text is the promise that God's grace is available to help us in times of need, just like the Israelites needed God's presence to overcome obstacles. Indeed, itt iis a reminder that we can confidently approach God's throne in prayer, knowing He will provide the help we need. God's grace is not limited to salvation but is also available for our diverse daily struggles.
Imagine you're hiking through a dense forest, and suddenly, a fierce storm hits. The winds are strong, the rain is heavy, and you're struggling to stay on your feet. Just when you think you can't go on, you see a ray of light in the distance — a cabin amidst the trees. You rush towards it, exhausted and soaked to the bone.
As you burst through the door, you find a warm fire, a comfortable bed, and a kind old man who offers you hot tea and a listening ear. He tells you, "I've been waiting for you. I knew you'd need a place of refuge from the storm."
In that moment, the cabin represents God's throne of grace. Just as the hiker found shelter and help in the cabin, we can find shelter and help in God's presence. Our text today invites us to come boldly to God's throne, just like the hiker came to the cabin, and receive the grace we need to overcome our struggles.
The apoatle knew that one can easily give up or lose faith when faced with challenges, but instead, rely on God's strength. In essence, thus text was designed to remind us that God's grace is our lifeline in times of trouble, and we can trust in His power to see us through. God's grace is the gentle rain that soothes the parched soul, the warm embrace that envelops the broken heart, and the guiding light that illuminates the path to redemption.
Quote: for the Day: "Grace is the unfathomable gift that transforms our darkness into radiant hope, reminding us that we are never beyond the reach of God’s tender touch." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for your grace that surrounds me. Help me to rest in your loving embrace, Find strength in your presence, and trust in your guidance. May your grace be my refuge,
my hope, my peace, my everything — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
