Today’s Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, May 7, 2019
Today’s Text: Psalm 142:1-7
Key Verse: Psalm 142:6 (ESV): “Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low! Deliver me from my persecutors, for they are too strong for me!”
Many Christians simply do not know how to talk to God. Especially during our discontent, grief, or pain. But God Himself invites us to bring our discontent to Him in genuine lamentation. We often think except we come with emotions of overflowing gratitude, or with happy songs of praise, or a full assurance of God's forgiveness then He doesn’t hear us. No, He hears us even during our deepest desperation.
We live in a troubled, broken world; but we have a High Priest that is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. He knows just how we hurt; yes, but He wants us to demonstrate trust in Him by talking to Him about our issues. Here, the Psalmist demonstrates how we all may approach God with all earnestness and sincerity of soul during any moment of inward or outward distress. God hears our cries even when we think all is completely lost and hopeless. David said: I am brought very low and reduced greatly. Have you been brought down sow low? Cry out to God today, He answers to the cries of His own.
Quote for the Day: “Great pain provokes great prayers; and God’s great grace abounds much more even the more we pray.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord, with my voice I cry out to You; with my voice I plead for mercy. You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living. I’m thankful Lord because You hear my cry, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayer,
