I See Newness

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, May 27, 2023

Today’s Text: Isaiah 43:16-21

Key Verses: Isaiah 43:19 (ESV): “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

There is a message from the Lord to a wearied soul, today: God wants you to wink at the former things — those moments of pain, or provocations, of penitence and of prayer. The admonition not to remember means that we are not to dwell on threatening voices of inexorable law of repetition. No, affliction shall not rise again. The past is a foregone conclusion, and what God is about to do is an appointed destiny. Old things are passed away, and all things are new. By “behold,” God is asking us to be in full expectation. We should watch out for what only God will do. All what you have known may be the wilderness, but forget about it; God is making you a broad way.

For you who have known nothing but perched and thirsty lands, there is the supply of rivers of waters. I see a newness coming: the pathless openings in a very near future is before us — no foot has trodden it. No eyes have seen it. And, neither has it entered the hearts of men, what God is making for our sake. Are you in darkness today? Your light will shine. Are you down at your knees, there is a rising again. You may have been scorched by the heat of the sun, but God is giving you abundant and continuous rivers of water. I don’t know what you see; but I see newness. The old order of pain, privation, peril, problems and provocations are all over with.

Quote for the Day: “The blossoming fig is a promise of harvest and a thick dark cloud has a way of breaking into a brilliant rainbow, promise and symbolizing redemption.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for making me a new beginning and unwavering provisions. I step boldly into this newness, and rely totally in the outpouring of your blessings, love and grace — in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
