Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, April 12, 2023
Today’s Text: Mark 4:39
Key Verses: Mark 4:35-41 (NIV): “Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. "Silence!" He commanded. "Be still!" And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm.”
Is there just any doubt that the very best of us still seems to have an imperfect knowledge of the Lord. Or do we still not doubt the Lord or His care in our seasons of danger—when life seems to be in a crash?! Can we think those low moments when the billows crash in on us are a test of our ability to trust and endurance. Beloved, that surge you feel is God’s strategy to help you gain greater inner strength so that you can be more efficient for God’s greater purpose in your life. Endurance is one of the qualities that God wants us to grow in, so that we can fulfill His purpose regardless of times and seasons. God wants you to know that though the crash seems fatal and calm so vague; He is right there somewhere while the noise is deafening.
Only when you deafen your ears to the crashing noise that your spirit can feel the calm and hear the Savior’s gentle rebuke to the wind and the sea. God will not leave you to perish. He never suffers the righteous to be moved. The Lord always helps us when our response is “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.” At that moment fear gives way to faith, and our soul anchor fastens in the word of the Lord. That moment, we quit wrestling with the wind. Because He is very much with us in crash or in calm. O hear the words of Jesus right now. "Silence!" He commanded. "Be still!"
Quote for the Day: “Whenever you can’t feel the calm, and faith seems to slumber. Just awaken it, it’s only asleep, not dead.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I trust that You are the only One who can bring peace in the midst of my storms. You give peace and calm that surpasses all understanding. Please let Your peace guard my heart and mind— in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
