Inner Thoughts of the Foolish

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, March 28, 2020

Today’s Text: Psalm 49:1-20

Key Verse: Psalm 49:1, 2 (KJV): ”Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world: Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

We have a text before us today that makes a distinction between the righteous and the ungodly. The ungodly are are classified as people who are foolish in their thoughts and actions; and whose lives show parameters of folly. While the psalmist states that the righteous have no cause for fear when evil days come, he proceeds to show that the ungodly had no reason to be secure despite their riches.

Whereas, it’s been the inner thoughts of people who revile God and scuffle His word that their prosperity is sufficient to save them from God’s wrath; but the present taste of corona corrosive epidemic and its effects on all life’s faces show that no man can accomplish safety or salvation by any self means—for himself or for another. It’s high time we desist from our foolish thinking and seek God.

Quote for the Day: "The man who trusts in his riches, and boasts in the abundance of his substances; but is unable to secure his own soul is miserably poor.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Father, You are the true source of life. Please help me Lord to anchor my life on your son, Jesus Christ, the Lord. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
