“Kindness Begets Itself” (Part Two)

Today’s Scripture Threshing for Monday, May 20, 2019

Today’s Text: Galatians 6:6-10

Key Verse: Galatians 6:7 (ESV): “Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

The Galatians appear to have been stingy in their contributions for the support of their Christian teachers. So, Paul, in the spirit of Proverbs 11:24: “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want;” warns them that such conduct will tell against them, or not be in their best interest. Whatever we do has a way of begetting itself.

The law of sowing and reaping is therefore set forth here by the apostle, not as a new enactment; but a reminder to what they already learn by culture. Harvest will always be the same in kind as the seed sown. Tares will never produce wheat, nor wheat tares. But each seed reproduces its own kind.

We are called upon this morning to wake up to the reality of recompense and reward. It is vain to think that you will sow hostility and expect to reap friendship.

Quote for the Day: ““People who do not sow sorted seed end up harvesting what they would need to sort. This is directly or inversely proportionate to reaping just what they sow.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to sow righteous seed of kindness, which I will be proud to reap, both in this life and in the life to come. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
