Today’s Text: Ecclesiastes 3:1
Key Verse: Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NLT): “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven”
The Bible is God’s open book of revelation. We can trust what it says about everything. The Bible idea of time in today’s text is deeper than that of a natural universal factor of frequency, pattern, arrangement and order of the human biosphere. That’s why what theoretical physicist, Carlo Rovelli’s ideas of time as man’s naive perception, an illusion and something that doesn't correspond to physical reality are false. Scripturally, time is the true litmus that tests our various circumstances in life, revealing that there are no incident, but that things are either orchestrated or allowed by God with great purpose and intentionality.
The law of time teaches us patience. A youth or student might long for a day to ride his own jets but he must learn from time the rigors and disciplines of his season of studentship. A pregnant woman might find the time of pregnancy so awkward but she must learn that it is only by obeying the law if time that she can embrace her baby with joy. Likewise, a mother might long for the day when there are no more dirty diapers and no sleepless night from a screaming infant. But the law of time must take its course. Earthly pursuits are only a blessing in their proper order of time. That are poisonous and unprofitable when out of time. God only makes everything beautiful in its season.
We may continue live through time’s extremes: of the greatest joy, and of most crushing grief, of ups and downs, and highs and lows. Understanding this law of life helps us in whatever extremity we face—that better days are at the door. It helps identify how best to use our time as God intends it for us. It points us to God’s provision and our need to appreciate life’s seasons. The law of time continues to remind us that while God may seem silent and uninvolved in a season, we only need to wait: the next season always reveals a new beauty, glory and joy. God wants us to learn the discipline of waiting for the process of time. We must appreciate Him for each time and season. God has a purpose for any rough season or extreme time that comes upon us.
Quote for the Day: “The sun, moon, wind, and rain in their seasons and vicissitudes daily teach man the discipline of appointed time.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your sovereignty over all. I seek Your guidance and wisdom, today, so I may trust in Your plan for my life and wait for everything to happen in Your perfect timing. Help me to remain patient and faithful in my waiting times, even when it feels difficult or uncertain — in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
