Learning from Jabez (Part Three)

Daily Scripture Threshing for Today, Monday, July 15, 2019

Our Text: 1 Chronicles 4:1-10

Key Verse:1 Chronicles 4:9 (KJV):”And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.”

During the days of Prussian king Frederick the Great, he toured a Berlin prison; where a certain prisoner fell on his knee, trembling and pleading for mercy. Other prisoners stood aloof, claiming innocence except for that man, who remained silent. Frederick called to him, "Why are you here?" "Armed robbery, Your Majesty," he confessed. "And are you guilty?" "Yes indeed, Your Majesty, I deserve my punishment, but plead your mercy” Frederick then summoned the jailer and ordered him, "Release this guilty wretch at once. I will not have him kept in this prison where he will corrupt all the fine innocent people who occupy it."

That is just what happens when we fake being alright, being righteous, and pretend as if all were okay. The arms of God’s mercy always reaches out only to anyone who realize his or her needs and cry out to Him for help. Though from birth, Jabez had been written off even by his own mother, but he honestly cried out to God and found mercy. You may feel so fractured in yourself, condemned by your past and situation. But God wants you to realize your need for him and cry out for help. That was exactly the case with Jabez.

Quote for the Day: “Earth has no woes, that heaven cannot kill, when our hands reaches up for help.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your willingness to help me. I run unto you, O destiny changer, change any evil destiny imposed on my life, in Jesus name. Amen.

With all my love and prayer,
