As the 10th Year Rememberance of the 21 Coptic Martyrs draws closer, to be eved by Valentine's Day each memorial, we are reminded of the sacrifices of early Christians who were brutally martyred for their faith. Can we help but ask ourselves if we would be willing to make such ultimate sacrifice for the sake of sharing the Gospel? Is our heartfelt prayer for wealth and prosperity or for the courage and conviction of a martyr, just like those fed to lions in the Early Church or the 21 beheaded by ISIS. or the apostle Paul, who bravely faced persecution and death. Those martyrs lived with an eternal perspective, unencumbered by worldly possessions, and with their hearts fixed on heaven. Their suffering for their faith in Christ, unimaginable persecution and hardship, and the way they remained faithful, according to today's text, usher them before the throne of God, worshiping and praising Him.
Their legacy inspire us to remain steadfast in our faith, even in the face of adversity. Their example encourages us to prioritize our relationship with God above all else and to be willing to make sacrifices for the sake of the Gospel. As we reflect on the martyrs' legacy, we are reminded that our faith is not just a personal matter, but also a public declaration of our devotion to Christ. We are called to live out our faith boldly and unapologetically, even if it means facing opposition or persecution. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." As followers of Christ, we must be willing to stand firm in our faith, even in the face of tribulation and death.
Action Steps: Ask God to give you the courage and strength to stand firm in your faith, even in the face of adversity. Be resolved to live out your faith boldly and unapologetically. Be an intercessor for believers around the world who are facing persecution and hardship because of their faith in Christ. Share the Gospel with others, and be willing to make sacrifices for the sake of spreading the Good News.
Quote for the Day: "The blood of Jesus is the undying seed the Church while those of His martyrs continue to water the seed bed." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You today, asking for the courage and strength to stand firm in my faith, even in the face of adversity. As we approach the 10th Year Rememberance of the 21 Coptic Martyrs, h elp me to reflect on their legacy and to be inspired by their example. Give me opportunities to share the Gospel with others, and be willing to make sacrifices for the sake of spreading your word — in Jesus' most glorious name. Amen.
