Today’s Scripture Threshing for Thursday, May 16, 2019
Today’s Text: Luke 5:1-11
Key Verse: Luke 5:5 (KJV): “And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.”
Except we understand the “But at your word I will” as “nevertheless at thy word I will,” we may not come to that place where we understand obedience to Christ as something to do regardless of what our reason, feelings, observations, or situations pose before us; and regardless of how what God tells us to do sounds. Wether our reason agrees with faith or not, we must come to that place where we obeying God nevertheless is our only humble submission. Because, it is often a test of submission and faith.
The Seas before us are never barren of needed goodness. But they may not give up the goods in them except we give up the arguments in us before the Lord. Yes, we are often overwhelmed by our challenges, and feel it’s not time to entertain further faith drill; but the Master will not graduate His disciple from one level of spiritual lesson or victory to the next except it becomes no trouble for him, in whatever he had thought is unnecessary demands, faith-drill or burden; to say, “nevertheless, Lord, at thy word.”
Quote for the Day: “O how blinded we are to the very truth of our situation! For facts of appearance puts the problem in the Sea whereas the problem is in us. The miracles we seek often await our simple obedience to the direction of Christ in order to manifest.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, regardless of how difficult the challenges You bring on my way are, let me trust the energy that faith brings to say nevertheless. Help me, even with my little strength, to cast my net of doubt unto the water—in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
