Today’s Text: 1 Samuel 23:1-11
Key Verse: 1 Samuel 23:4 (ESV): ”David enquired of the Lord yet again.”
A prudent man acts with knowledge. He knows it is both spiritually and physically sensible to look before he leaps. And of course, seeking God’s direction is a most essential part of a Christian’s walk with God. David understood what this really means. From his youth, he made enquiring of the Lord a first course duty in all things. Even when he become a great leader, he continues to exemplify how great leadership results from great followership of God.
Faced with challenging situations or not, we are often quick to make hasty moves. Though we have mostly returned with consequences of leaping before looking, yet we don’t seem to have learnt. That’s why we are charged in today’s text to develop, like David, the habit of always asking the Lord for direction first. Even when you have already sought initial guidance; once a fresh challenge presents itself, it’s always a privilege and a blessing to always inquire of the Lord yet again. We can’t ever be too dependent on God. He is never weary of us; and without Him, we’d never out-grow our inadequacies.
Quote for the Day: “Fear keeps people running; however, regardless of urge to leap, our faith keeps us still when God says to be still.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, Teach me to trust you in the face of adversity, to embrace faith in seeking you, so that not a day or effort will be wasted trying to move while I should be still, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
