Today’s Text: Matthew 5:2-12
Key Verse: Matthew 5:9 (NKJV): "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God”
Tell me just where peacemaking begin, or how I can become a peacemaker! Can I discover peace within myself? Do I.look toward some mountains or just trust that it is nothing but a mental attitude? If these and many more are your dilemmas about finding or making peace, then, to you I can offer this assurance. Just cast off your phobias, shed your neuroses, and follow this simple Jesus-model for having the coveted peace you long for.
Whereas there are thousands of volumes on public libraries and global matkets that promises to offer what people can do to find and/or make peace. Some of them are flat, and some are unquestionably helpful, especiallythose hinged upon godly precepts.
However, wherever one turns, nothing is certainly satisfactory or can substitute for the peace that comes from God. Because, of course, peace comes from alone. Whoever leaves God out, ultiultimately loses peace himself. That why pholosphers, psychologists and psychiatrists go to each other for treatment. The reason is simple: there can be no peace until we find it in, with or from God.
No man makes peace without or outside the One who is our peace. We all create expectations for how we want people to treat and respond us. And when they don't, we become hurt, disappointed, and even angry. But as we seek and follow the peace of Jesus , we must realize that no one is responsible for the happiness and peace of another, but each one of us is responsible to himself to find the peace s/he seeks in Christ alone. Don’t let a disruption in your relationships be caused by you.
There may be times when peace is not possible because of the decisions and attitudes of others, but as far as it depends on you, I am.confident that peace is still possible if you have genuinely fou d the prince of peace! So, peace is not because others are in harmony with you; it is because you are in harmony with Jesus. Peace does not come on our wealth, strength or relationships, it comes because of Jesus.
Quote for the Day: “Peace is not because others are in harmony with you; it is because you are in harmony with Jesus." — Simon Olatunji
Prayer: Dear Lord and Father, I thank You for being our peace. Please keep us, we pray, in perfect peace, help us to walk together, pray together, sing together, and live together until that day when all Your children, jere on earth, black or white, male and female will gather together as one people at Your feet — in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
