Order out of Chaos

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, December 4, 2023

Today’s Text: Genesis 1:1-31

Key Verse: Genesis 1:31 (NKJV): “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

Do you feel like your life is without form—void and empty? Does it seem as if darkness is in its deepest depths so much that you are confused about yourself, your situation and just what to do? The God who brought order into the world’s initial situation wants to bring order to your life. Only He wants you to turn your life over to Him so that you can experience His peace and blessings. Our God is the God of peace: He brings order, not confusion.

Take another moment of meditation and carefully consider the entirety of Genesis’s first chapter: it testifies of the supreme power of God—how He made the vastness of the universe out of nothing; and everything is perfect. Our problems in life may seem really big, but they are too dwarf compared to the size of the universe, which is set up in an orderly manner, and not a single planet ever lost shape or ran into another one.

If the billions of stars and planets in the universe are maintained in orderly orbits, what are the odds in your life today, let God’s Spirit take control and those hovering darkness on the face of your life’s deep shall give way to light and order. As this year comes to a gradual close, and we prepare for the next, we are here reminded of how creation is the supreme example of God’s power to create something from nothing.

And therefore, if God can speak and call forth order from chaos, and cause the entire universe to come into being, He can take care of us as well.

Quote for the Day: “We are God’s best raw material. He needed nothing more than speak and that which is not would come into being.”

Prayer: Almighty God, You are the God of decency and order—You created all things and make them all well. Please help me to always go to You when I experience chaos in my life and in this world. Teach me to rely on You alone, and not on man — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
