Today’s Text: Psalm 29:1-11
Key Verse: _”The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.”_ (vs. 4, ESV)
Our God does not need to raise his voice or stress his vocal chord to cause his entire creation to tremble. When He whispers, He sets the whole creation in motion. Today’s Psalm helps us appreciate the power of God’s word—how in it’s simplest, the hard cedars are shattered. The same Hebrew word used here for voice is the word rendered sound when God called out to Adam and Eve in the Garden (Genesis 3:8). When God makes a sound, whispers and sends His word, it make the seat of sin to tremble. Adam and Eve trembled at His word.
Unfortunately, we seem to be more and more deafened to the word of God. If we do, the unbecoming complex structure of things in our age will begin to take their shape. Instead of a life marked with noise and terror; or the generation’s thick and terrifying darkness, as long as we allow God, and the dynamism of His word, we can cope with any issue of our lives no matter how loud and tough they are. Even when the silence in our lives seems to be at its most bitter form, and deafening form, the whispering breathe of God comforts and warms our heart.
Quote for the Day: "Believers in Christ must never let the devil terrify them. We serve the God who rules in most powerful silence over the loudest noise of life.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, make me so swift in seeing and active in savoring the promises of your sovereign grace that in all my sorrows I might never cease to sing your praise, in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
