Today’s Text: Genesis 49:10-12
Key Verse: Ephesians 4:32 (NASB) — “Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”

Key Verse: Ephesians 4:32 (NASB) — “Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.”
God release an eternal law through patriarchal legacy and declaration made in the form of blessings. Through Jacob He bequeathed the prophetic blessing: “the scepter" that will not depart upon Judah. Nothing shall remove this authority and ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his” (Genesis 49:10).
A scepter symbolized a ruler’s absolute power and authority over a dominion or nation. So, this Scripture is a direct prophecy of Jesus, the Messiah, who alone reserves all irresistible all-realm power at his command. Therefore, “the scepter will not depart from Judah,” is, in on one hand, a divine prediction of Davidic rulership which shall continue from Solomon, Rehoboam, Abijah, all the way through Zedekiah, and to the comunf of the King of kings.
This is even more clearly stated on the other hand, that an unequalled Descendant of David would come, “...the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will honor” (Genesis 49:10, NLT). This line in more literal translations render it as “until Shiloh comes.” Jesus Christ is our Shiloh. He is the Messiah, the One to whom all prophesies direct. He is the Son of David, whose kingdom is eternal (2 Peter 1:11). Jesus is “the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David” (Revelation 5:5). Because of Jesus Christ, the scepter has not and shall not departed from Judah.
Quote for the Day: “The Scepter of peace is no other but Jesus Christ. Outside of Him, our world can know no peace.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, you who are our great and gentle Savior, our scepter and our peace. Please, move tgrough our troubled hearts and world and help us to find your peace. We ask all these in Your most glorious name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
