Today’s Scripture Threshing for Tuesday, May 28, 2019
Today’s Text: Isaiah 44:1-5
Key Verse: Isaiah 44:3 (ESV): “For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”
How do you feel about knowing that such a refreshing blessing from God is for you: “my Spirit upon your seed, and my blessing upon your offspring." Are these not, to a great degree, the greatest object of our love? A land is dry, thirsty, perched and desolate to the degree(s) that it’s seeds live out those realities.
But God wants to help us. In every culture and nations, all parents thirst for their seeds’ and offsprings’ spiritual welfare and physical prosperity. God cares for what we care about. He understands our hearts desires and sees our thirst. So He offers a most needed promise: You do not or can never thirst for a greater outpouring of help any more than God is willing to give. Isaiah saw a vision in which our children shall receive such outpouring from that so much that each of them would be proud to say, ‘I am the Lord’s.
Quote for the Day: “No greater number of people suffer obstacles in the way of decision and devotion than youths; but for any single youth who thirsts for God, His promise abides — I will pour my water, my streams, my Spirit, and my blessing.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I am so tired and thirsty, please give me true refreshing that comes when you pour out your spirit on a weary soul, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
