Power to the Weary

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, October 26, 2023

Today’s Text: Isaiah 40:27-31

Key Verse: Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV): “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.”

We always desire that God will step in when things are awkward and stuffy. Sometimes He does and sometimes He doesn’t. But whatever He does is always in keeping with the wisdom of His Sovereignty. So that though He may not immediately and miraculously change that difficult circumstance(s), He does give us the power to face whatever is in front of us.

God, in this text is mindful of anyone of us who may be struggling or suffering. He wants you to know that He alone gives a fresh supply of spiritual—supernatural—strength and faith to those who have humble dependence on Him. This will help us not to try to get through difficulties in our own strength. Please learn to trust God’s everlasting arms. We are sure not to fall short and become weary, or unable to bear the burden when God’s promise for strength and power beyond our own is what we rely upon.

Quote for the Day: “Weariness and fatigue cause us to forget God’s promise of power, but we may be renewed by the assurance that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, my prayer today is that I may learn how to live my life uncommon in this world. To walk tall in faith so much that I will be kept from the evil ones. Sanctify me and set me aside by Your truth; and fill my heart with a world changing faith — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
