Quit Doubting God

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, July 13, 2024

Today’s Text: 2 Kings 7:1-20

Key Verse: 2 Kings 7:2 (NIV): "Elisha replied, 'You will see it with your own eyes, but you won't eat any of it!'"

The biblical story of the king's official who doubted God's words spoken through prophet Elisha is a lesson to us. We must have faith in God even in the face of fear and doubt.By divine oracle, Elisha promised that God would provide food during a time of famine. But the man questioned how God could possibly feed the entire city when the present reality of their resources dictated otherwise. And, despite Elisha's prophetic assurance, the official remained skeptical.

Are there not some among us today who live and act like thar doubting official, the likes of New Testament doubting Thomas, who let fear and doubt creep in during difficult times? Do you not question God's ability to provide for you or intervene in your circumstances?

Dear brother and sister, God is always faithful and true to His promises. May Elisha's kind of response to that official's doubt not be your portion. The response seemed gentle: "You will see it with your own eyes, but you won't eat any of it." But that's exactly what happened. The official saw the miraculous provision of food, but he didn't get to enjoy it because of his doubt.

When faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, choose to trust God's promises. Don't let your situation or your fear and doubt dictate your response to God. Remember that God is always working, even when we can't see a way out. Obey God's instructions, even if they seem impossible. Learn to stand firm in your faith, even when circumstances seem bleak. God is always faithful and will provide for His children. Trust God's promises and obey His instructions, even in the face of uncertainty and adversity.

Quote for the Day: "Faith is not about everything making sense. It's about trusting in the One who makes sense of everything." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you with an open heart and mind. Please guide me in your truth and help me to trust in your promises. When faced with uncertainty and doubt, remind me to have faith in your goodness and love. Let your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard my heart and mind — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
