Redirected, Not Rejected

Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, June 26, 2024

Today’s Text: Romans 8: 31 - 39

Key Verse: Romans 8:37 (ESV): "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

I remember reading a myth of a talking arrow whom an archer shot at a target. While other arrows hit the bullseye, it felt rejected because it fell to the ground. The arrow felt worthless and asked the archer, "Why did you reject me?" The archer replied, "I didn't reject you. I just adjusted my aim. You were not rejected, but redirected, and you are a part of a larger plan." Similarly, when we face difficulties or the pain of rejection, and feel like the rejected arrow; remember that God is a perfect archer. He never misses target. He may be redirecting us for a greater purpose. Whatever looks like rejection in your life can be a refinement, preparing us for something new and better.

Whatever you are passing through, it is not the end, but a new beginning. You are never rejected, only redirected, refined, and renewed for God's greater plan. Remind yourself that His thoughts are not your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). While rejection can be painful and challenging to navigate. Today’s biblical charge is that everything is working for our good. Take that situation you are in as your opportunity for growth. God may be refining and strengthening you (Psalm 66:10-12 and James 1:2-4). And, it may be a test of your love and faith (Job 13:15). God wants you to use that situation to identify your true identity and worth in Christ, rather than due seeking human approval. You are more and better than who you think you are.

Quote for the Day: "Each time you feel crushed. Just know that you are never rejected. You are only being refined for a new purpose." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your word that reminds us that my situation is not the end, but a new beginning. Help us to see each difficult time as opportunity for growth, refinement, and redirection. When we feel like the rejected arrow, help us to remember that you are the archer, guiding and directing our paths — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
