Today’s Text: 1 Kings 18:41-46
Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:44 (ESV): “And at the seventh time he said, “Behold, a little cloud like a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” And he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.’ ”
When times get harder and harder and no easy answer are coming for our fervent and trusting supplications, then, we can learn from Elijah. He did not stop trusting God. Those hours of our lives, when God seems silent are not the hours to run from Him. Indeed, they are the best times to run to Him. Elijah did not give up praying. We must continue in earnest prayer. We must never faint, give up, or give over. Because those unflinching moments of earnestness are necessary to gather up the needed cloud in our lives. Please mark these words: needed cloud, not expected cloud. Often, we expect extraordinary things in magnificent ways; whereas, the needed blessing might be just that little insignificant cloud in our lives. If received by faith, it will soon overspread the heavens, cover up the sky, and pour forth abundant water on our entire world. Great things always rises from small ones. We must outgrow that faith that always make us despise small things. Why not take a cue from Elijah’s admonition to Ahab. Why not become sensitive to your opportunity. Why wait till the next moment. If you do, the rain may stop you. Why not run at the slightest impulse. What is keeping you from taking the bold step. Friend, you’ve got the needed little hand, run!
Quote for the Day: “Men who wait for the cloud to gather will not take the first step until the rain stops them." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, please teach me, like sailors, the value of little clouds on the far horizon, which if despised are often the forerunners of violent storms. Please teach me not to despise whatever you are doing in me, in Jesus' name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
