Today’s Text: Genesis 13:14-18
Key Verses: Genesis 13:15 (ESV) “I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.”
When Mr. William Arthur Ward came up with his “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it;” he was not inventing something new per se. But he must have actually tapped into a principle that God, in this text, taught father Abraham. The power of vision is important in the journey of faith. No one can succeed if he lacks the inspiration or imagination of the success before hand. Every successful man or woman always learns and uses the power of visualization. This is because we all become more confident and motivated when we can already see the prospect of our pursuit. The same is true in the journey of faith. It is more rewarding when we keep the vision of the cross in view.
We can learn from what God was teaching Abraham here. Lot, who was his source of strength was leaving; and Abraham’s drive on his journey to the unknown kingdom may be becoming weaker and dimmer. Of course, as a natural man, that's all our physical sense and sight could carry. But Abraham was here charged to deploy the eyes of the spirit and shine his spiritual vision. We too are all, one-time or the other, in the place where we think we can't go on. We have faced situations in which our Lots leave us. But God wants us to know that looking back, down or around will do no good than depress us more. What is needed is to yield and look up. We lose nothing when we yield. Let all the Lots turn aside and take all the good portion; but you look up and see what God can do. Divine graces flow better toward us when our souls are calm, and we let our spiritual senses control the physical. Look away from those ugly situations today. Shine your spiritual eyes, and whatever you can see, you can have through God.
Quote for the Day: “We are neither cursed by the one who just left us nor blessed by/in that which was left with us; .but our blessing is in the extent of our vision of God’s provision." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: O Lord, please come to my rescue, and touch my eyes with your powerful hands. Help me to see your plan clearly above the challenges I am going through, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
